Position
Summary:
The Vice President for Institutional Advancement is responsible for designing and implementing comprehensive institutional advancement programs, including annual fund, corporate and foundation relations, major gifts and gift planning, endowment, capital campaigns, and alumni and constituent relations efforts.
Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:
Serve as a member of the senior staff and maintain close working relationships with members of the Board of Trustees and key alumni/friends.
Participate in strategic discussions and develop programs to strengthen the financial resources of the University.
Create and execute development plans that utilize best practices in annual, major, and planned gift programs to meet fundraising goals.
Work closely with the President in all phases of his advancement and campaign leadership activities.
Maintain a dynamic portfolio of major gift prospects in all phases of qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
Execute existing campaign plans and create future campaign initiatives.
Develop annual plans and budgets for alumni, development, and capital campaigns.
Serve as the staff liaison for the Development Committee of the Board of Trustees.
Direct, coach, evaluate and inspire staff toward accountable, goal-oriented outcomes.
Provide leadership to constituent relations programs.
Maintain cooperative working relationships with faculty, coaches, and campus departments whose cooperation is essential to effective development programs.
Devise effective internal and external messaging and methods of communication.
Serve as an exemplary University advocate in the community and build relationships that closely link the community with the University.
Be active and involved in the advancement profession.
Travel is required.
All other duties as assigned by the President.
Supervisory
Responsibilities:
Supervises the Development Office, Alumni & Parent Programs, Advancement Services, and any other Institutional Advancement staff added to the department.

Qualifications:

Education and/or
Experience:
A Bachelor's degree is required and an advanced degree is preferred from a regionally accredited university.
Prior experience in higher education advancement environment is preferred.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
